There is no sign-up step. When Wishtrap is first opened, the device generates a random install identifier, and that identifier is your identity in the world. Nothing is collected to create it, not even an email address.
Display name
You are given a generated name and may change it to one you type yourself. Your display name is visible to every other player, in the standings tables, on any trap you place, and in the record of a kill your trap causes.
What the game records
The game stores, against your install identifier:
- Runs: the distance you reached and what killed you, if anything did.
- Traps you place, along with how many players have met them and how many they have killed.
- Kill events: a record of a trap killing a player.
Where it is stored
Gameplay data is stored with Supabase, hosted in the European Union, in Frankfurt.
How long it is kept
- Kill events are kept for 30 days, then permanently deleted.
- Each day's world is deleted on a daily schedule. The two most recent days are kept, so a trap that has not yet been evicted can carry over into the next one.
- Player records, the install identifier and display name, are kept until a deletion is requested.
What is not collected
No email address is collected. There are no advertisements, no analytics, and no tracking. Nothing is sold or shared with third parties.
Reporting and deletion
A display name can be reported from inside the app. To request that your data be deleted, contact us at the address below with the display name you are playing under. Deletion is applied to the install identifier behind that name, which the game holds and you never see.
